ICAI Bahrain

The youngest chairman in the history of the chapter, CA Alok Gupta brings with him over 12 years of professional experience. A Chartered Accountant (1997) Alok holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce (1994) and is an ISO 9001 Internal Auditor.

Alok joined the managing committee five years ago, and he has served the chapter in various capacities, viz., Managing Committee Member, Joint Secretary, Secretary and Vice Chairman.

Alok started his career with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, a Fortune 500 company. He currently holds the position of Finance Manager – Treasury & Credit with Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons, a leading business house in Bahrain, dealing with Automobiles, Heavy Equipments, Electronics, Construction, BMS, Furniture, Building Material and Medical Technology.

Alok was President of the College Student Union in 1993-94, on the basis of college merit. Presently, he is also a member of ICAB Toastmaster, Secretary of Lions Club, Riffa, and various social and regional associations.

His vision for the BCICAI is to connect more with the members and the ICAI to continue to strengthen the Chapter in the years to come. He intends to communicate the value of the profession extensively, and continue to build a strong vibrant brand. He also intends to collaborate with the social issues in the Kingdom of Bahrain, so that, together, there can be a stronger voice on common issues, and sharing of learning and resources.

CA Shaukat Lokhandwala, Vice President of the Chapter, is Finance professional with 25 years of post qualification experience with multinationals and closely held Groups in India and the Middle East. He is currently General Manager – Finance, Haji Hassan Group, a leading business house in Bahrain with operations spread over the Gulf.

Shaukat Lokhandwala is a Commerce Graduate from Mumbai, India, after which he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985, in his first attempt. In the year 2000 he added the US CPA degree to his professional qualifications, scoring a whopping 94%, the highest ever achieved in Bahrain at the time.

He was the Founder President of the Bohra Toastmasters Club and a Past President of the Lions Club of Riffa, Bahrain. He is an avid quizzer and was part of the team that won the ‘Brains of Bahrain' quiz as also the Standard Chartered Business Challenge.

CA Gopalakrishnan, is the Secretary of the Chapter, has over 23 years of experience in Audit, Finance and Investment management. He is currently the Head of Finance & Investment with Bahrain National Holding (BNH).

Prior to joining BNH, Gopalakrishnan was Finance Manager, Al Shirawi Group of Companies, UAE. He also had a stint as Accounts Manager in various companies in India and Bahrain. An associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Gopalakrishnan holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce.

CA T.D. Balraj, the Joint Secretary of the Chapter, is a professional with over a decade of post qualification experience in manufacturing industries, public utility and retailing.

A graduate in Mathematics and Statistics, TD Balraj became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 1988. He worked for five years in retailing with a Doha-based family business conglomerate before coming to Bahrain in 1997 as Financial Controller of J A Zayani & Sons WLL, where he continues to serve. He is also on advisory capacity with various other business units within the Group.

T.D. Balraj is a founding member of ICAB Toastmasters Club. When the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI) started its own Toastmasters Club in 2005, he was the Vice-President in 2007-2008 and as its President in 2008-2009. Currently he is Assistant Division Governor Education & Training for Division K comprising twenty-three Toastmasters Clubs in Bahrain.

CA Sanjay Gupta, Treasurer, is a Chartered Accountant with CISA (Certified Information System Auditor), DISA (Diploma in Information System Auditing), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and a Bachelors Degree in Commerce.

With over 20 years of in depth post qualification experience, CA Sanjay Gupta is working as Head of Reserve Risk Control in the Reserve Management Directorate with the Central Bank of Bahrain.

His experience spans diverse facets of financial operations, including External and Internal Audits, Investigation work, Assurance and Advisory Business Services, Due Diligence Reviews and Risk Assessment. Sanjay Gupta is a keen planner with demonstrated business acumen to oversee operations, conceptualize strategies and effectuate them for sustained business growth. His strengths include excellent relationship management, communication skills and relationship management abilities.

CA Rajeev Jain, Member of the Chapter, is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Bachelors degree in Commerce. He is presently working with Citi Bank as Assistant Vice President – Financial Analysis and previously worked with KMPG, Bahrain and PWC, India. He also holds a certificate course in AMFI. 

Rajeev Jain's expertise covers areas such as financial planning, risks in fund investing, model portfolio selection and other essential areas of mutual funds.

CA Ruchir Shah is a Chartered Accountant with several years of professional experience. He currently works with American Express (AMEX) as part of their Compliance & Internal Control function.

A Commerce graduate, Ruchir Shah is also an avid reader. His diverse reading interest spans Finance and Economic journals to academic literature and fiction. He also has a keen interest in Cricket and Tennis, and has also been involved in organizing cultural programs for his community forum.

CA Nitin Mahajan, Member of the Chapter, is a qualified Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and a Bachelor of Commerce, with several years of industry experience. He is currently working with E K Kanoo group as Internal Auditor and had prior stints at India Bulls and Bajaj Auto Finance.

Nitin Mahanjan is active member of Art of Living and contributed in Blood Donation Camps & Food Donation camps for Labour.
